A father-and-son discipleship journey

Forming boys who know the Way—and can show it to others.

Guide is more than a monthly event. It is an intentional pathway of biblical formation, practical competence, service and mentorship for boys and the men who walk beside them.

Every gathering combines worship and Scripture with hands-on learning, outdoor challenge, brotherhood and a real opportunity to serve.

01

Scripture

Truth is the compass. Boys learn to read, remember and apply God’s Word to everyday life.

02

Skills

Competence builds confidence. Each season introduces useful, age-appropriate abilities.

03

Service

Strength finds purpose in helping others. Boys learn to notice needs and take faithful action.

The Guide pathway

Advancement is demonstrated—not timed.

Every boy begins as a Seeker and progresses by showing growth in character, Scripture, skills and service. The goal is not to rush through ranks, but to become the kind of young man each rank describes.

Guide walking staffs

Guide boys and mentors gathered outdoors

For parents and caregivers

You do not have to have it all figured out.

Guide gives fathers, grandfathers and trusted mentors a practical setting to build the kind of relationship that can be hard to create in the rush of ordinary life.

  • One three-hour Saturday gathering every month
  • One extended Saturday or overnight event every quarter
  • Biblical teaching and guided discussion
  • Hands-on skills, service and outdoor experiences
  • Clear safety standards and trained leadership

Paperwork made simple

Clear instructions. Ordinary language. No guessing.

The family packet puts registration, medical information, participation permission, pickup, media choice, mentor consent, expectations and event transportation in one easy-to-follow place.

  • Each form says who completes it and when it is needed.
  • Important privacy instructions appear before sensitive questions.
  • Permission choices use direct checkboxes instead of vague wording.
  • Legal and insurer-approved language remains clearly identified for local review.

Between the gatherings

Discipleship keeps moving at home.

Each boy receives a two-page take-home packet after the monthly gathering. Over the next four weeks, he completes one Scripture challenge, one practical skill, and one act of service alongside his father, mentor, or caregiver.

01 Read & talk02 Practice safely03 Serve someone04 Bring it back

Included in the 40-page system

  • 12 complete monthly family packets
  • Annual completion and leader-review tracker
  • Four quarterly-event preparation sheets
  • Overnight packing checklist
  • Missed-meeting makeup sheet
  • 12 cut-apart Scripture memory cards
  • Reusable skill-practice and service-reflection pages
  • Ten optional family and sibling activities
  • Leader return-and-review instructions

At-home activities provide evidence of growth, but they do not automatically earn rank or replace leader review.

Safety and leadership standards

Trust is built through clear accountability.

Guide operates under pastoral authority and the church’s child-protection, transportation, medical and insurance requirements. Activities are adjusted, relocated or cancelled when conditions cannot be controlled safely.

Approved adults

Participating leaders complete the church’s application, screening, background-check and training process before serving.

Two-deep leadership

Mentoring remains group-based, parent-visible and accountable. A mentor match never authorizes private meetings or secret communication.

Controlled activities

Tools, fire, cooking, first aid and outdoor skills use qualified instruction, defined boundaries, readiness checks and stop-work authority.

Secure records

Medical, custody, incident and background information is handled privately through the church’s approved process—not through this public website.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for families.

Parent orientation and event-specific instructions always control when a local detail changes.

Who can participate?+

Guide is designed for boys and young men ages 6–18. Every participant begins as a Seeker, regardless of age or previous experience.

Does a father have to attend?+

Fathers are strongly encouraged, but a boy is not excluded because his father cannot participate. Approved Covenant Guides provide church-accountable support where needed.

Is Guide a competition?+

No. Advancement is based on demonstrated growth in Scripture, skills, service and character—not speed, age or attendance alone.

When does a boy receive his walking staff?+

After completing the Seeker requirements—normally within two to six months—and receiving mentor, leader and pastoral approval.

How often does Guide meet?+

There is one focused three-hour Saturday gathering each month, simple at-home activities between meetings, and one larger milestone event each quarter.

How are overnight events handled?+

Every overnight requires separate registration, current medical information, parent permission, approved supervision and a complete event safety plan.

Registration pathway

Start with information—not sensitive paperwork.

The public registration process begins with the short family interest form and parent orientation. Medical, custody, medication and emergency records are collected later through the church’s secure enrollment process.

  1. 01
    Review Guide

Read the family handbook, schedule, expectations and safety overview.

  2. 02
    Complete the interest form

Share basic family and participation information so a Guide leader can follow up. Do not include medical or custody details.

  3. 03
    Attend parent orientation

Meet the leadership team, review the calendar and ask questions before completing enrollment.

  4. 04
    Complete secure enrollment

Return the required forms directly to the authorized church administrator.
